Marseille Manager Confirms Stay; Promises to Challenge for Ligue 1.

The Marseille manager has confirmed his stay in the French top-flight, while promising to challenge for the Ligue 1 title this season.

In a statement released on Monday, Marseille head coach Alain Vassal told reporters that he was confident that he would be able to lead the team to success in the upcoming season.

Vassal's confidence is justified as the Marseille side currently sit at the bottom of the Ligue 1 table, with only four points from their last six games.

Despite this, Vassal remains optimistic about his team's chances of making a strong start to the campaign and adding some much-needed depth to the squad.

He added: "We have a talented squad who can provide us with great performances, but we also need to find our rhythm and improve our defensive stability."

Vassal's appointment as Marseille manager was announced earlier this week, after former coach Guingamp boss Jean-Michel Aulas left the club due to personal reasons.

Vassal will now take charge of the team, which faces a tough test against Lyon in the Coupe de France next month.

"We have to win the game against Lyon," said Vassal. "It's going to be a difficult match, but we must do everything possible to get the best result."
